The SEUDIPO Conference at VŠE Will Open a Debate on Protecting the Democratic Information Space
How can we navigate a digital world full of manipulation, disinformation, and information chaos? And how can democratic values be strengthened at a time when the online environment increasingly shapes public debate? These are the questions addressed by the new SEUDIPO project, which brings together research, education, and professional practice at the Faculty of International Relations of the Prague University of Economics and Business. Over the next three years, it aims to contribute to a safer and more resilient information space in the Czech Republic.
Opening Conference on 4th June
The SEUDIPO project will officially launch with a conference taking place on 4 June 2026. Speakers will include Tomáš Foltýn, Director General of the National Library of the Czech Republic, and Věra Jourová, former Vice-President of the European Commission.
The conference will provide an opportunity for discussion on current threats within the digital environment and on ways to strengthen the resilience of democratic societies.
More information and the conference programme are available on the project website: SEUDIPO.
What will the Project Deliver?
The project builds on the expertise of researchers from the Faculty of International Relations (FIR) and the Faculty of Informatics and Statistics (FIS). Experts from the National Library of the Czech Republic and the National Cyber and Information Security Agency (NÚKIB) are also collaborating. The project is led on behalf of the FIR and FIS by Jarolím Antal, Kateřina Kočí, Zdeněk Vondra, and Jan Černý.
The project builds on the expertise of researchers from the Faculty of International Relations and the Faculty of Informatics and Statistics. However, the outcomes of the research will not remain solely within academia — SEUDIPO seeks to transform them into practical tools that will help the public better recognize information threats and navigate the digital environment. This comprehensive project will therefore include:
- 48 interactive workshops,
- 3 professional conferences,
- a new educational platform focused on media literacy and democratic education.
