The department’s research has long been engaged in the study of economic terminology, economic-specific style and modern didactic methods (including e-learning). The department’s publishing activities concentrate mainly on the problems of applied linguistics, lexicology and lingual-didactics. The department has a number of foreign assistant lecturers. The department acts as an authorised examination centre for international examinations in commercial Spanish in the Czech Republic, having been entrusted with this task by the Madrid Chamber of Commerce. The department hosts international conferences and seminars on the language of economics. Through its association with the Socrates and Erasmus projects, the department cooperates with Slovak, Spanish and Austrian universities. As a member of CEMS (the Community of European Management Schools) the department participates in language examinations and the examiner exchange.
The Department of Romance Languages is the only authorized center in the Czech Republic, which has permission to examine internationally recognized language tests of the Cámara de Comercio e Industria de Madrid (CCIM). The language diplomas can be taken at B2 – C2 levels of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) and the exams are held twice a year.
The Department also cooperates with Institut français de Prague, the authorised examination center for Paris Chamber of Commerce certifications in professional French – Diplôme de français professionnel – at the levels A1-C1. The exams are also held for our students twice a year at the University of Economics or in Institut Français.
Moreover, the Department organizes preparatory courses for all levels. Every student of University of Economics or anyone from public can apply for these courses and diplomas.
