In the week from April 7 to 10, 2026, the traditional Innovation Week will take place at the Prague University of Economics and Business and the Faculty of International Relations. Instead of regular classes, a program full of workshops, lectures, and excursions is prepared, connecting academic knowledge with practice.

Lukáš Pejčoch, Head of Sector for Trade Defence Investigations at the European Commission

How to protect the European market in an era of geopolitical competition? Lukáš Pejčoch, Head of Sector for Trade Defence Investigations at the European Commission (DG Trade) focusing on EU trade policy, enforcement, and the protection of fair competition, will answer this question. The seminar explores ongoing debates about the right balance between open markets and protecting European industry, the geopolitical dimensions of trade defense in an era of tectonic geopolitical shifts, strategic competition, and global overcapacity. It explains the institutional cooperation between supranational European Commission bodies and member state interests, and discusses emerging tools, such as the Foreign Subsidies Regulation, and their relationship to traditional trade defense mechanisms.

by Dr. Qi Hudečková – Chinese Guest Speaker living and working in the Czech Republic

You can look forward to an interactive lecture by Dr. Qi Hudečková, often called as 奇玉老师 Teacher Qiyu,  a Ph.D. in History and Philosophy of Science and Technology in 2012, a visiting scholar at the Needham Institute, Cambridge in 2010-2011.

She is a researcher and practitioner in the field of  Chinese prognostication, focusing on the use of traditional tool models to simplify and imitate the fate of mankind, the trend of events, and the human-environment relations.

The lecture will focus on Chinese popular beliefs based on Yin-yang and the Five Elements theory: I Ching (hexagrams), Bazi (Four Pillars of Destiny), and Feng Shui in practice.
