In Memoriam: Professor Vladimír Jeníček

The Faculty of International Relations (FIR) announces with deep sadness that Prof. Ing. Vladimír Jeníček, DrSc., a long-standing member of the Department of World Economy (now the Department of International Economic Relations), passed away on July 14, 2026, just shy of his 94th birthday.

May he rest in peace!

Professionally, Prof. Jeníček focused his research on agriculture, the world economy, globalization, and global issues facing humanity. Throughout his career, he was active at a number of institutions, including the Institute of Economics, the Research Institute of Foreign Trade, the Research Institute of Agricultural Economics and Nutrition, the Czech University of Life Sciences, and others.

From 1978 to 1991, he lectured on business economics at the Prague University of Economics and Business (VŠE). He subsequently transferred to the Faculty of International Relations, where he was active for over two decades. He also authored textbooks and academic publications, served for many years as the chairman of the editorial board for the journal Agricultural Economics, and was a member of various other committees and scientific boards. In 2004, he was appointed Professor in the field of World Economy.
