Dare to manage a 150 million portfolio? Design a strategy and get up to 40,000 CZK for your study abroad trip!

Competition Task

Imagine you are investment advisors for a foundation whose mission is to financially support students of the Faculty of International Relations at VŠE. The foundation holds investment assets of 150 million CZK, and it may exclusively use the returns from its investments to support students. Design a strategy that will enable the long-term financing of the foundation’s activities while appropriately managing investment risks. Specifically, focus on these 4 areas:

• Composition and diversification of the investment portfolio.
• Expected returns and associated investment risks.
• Investment horizon and the long-term sustainability of the endowment.
• Justification of the chosen investment strategy.

Process and Evaluation

Each team will present their proposal to an expert jury. A total of 10 minutes will be allocated for the presentation and subsequent defense, including questions from the jury.

The jury will evaluate the economic rationality and feasibility of the proposal, risk management, long-term sustainability, and the quality of argumentation.

Reward for the Winning Team

Each of the four members of the winning team will receive a scholarship of 10,000 CZK.

The scholarship will be paid out in connection with the student’s future study abroad mobility, on top of the standard financial support provided for mobility. The total reward for the team is 40,000 CZK.

Important Dates

• 21. October 1, 2026 – Registration deadline: interested participants should register via email at tauser@vse.cz. In the application, include the names of all four team members and the team name.
• 4. November 2, 2026 – Presentations and defenses: 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM in room NB244.
