New year of MPA program of Sport diplomacy launched at FIR

In October, new year of Sport diplomacy study program was launched at the Czech Faculty of International Relations. Once again, after a gap year, there is a chance to study program on which FIR cooperates closely with the Czech Olympic Committee. Moreover, after three years of organization, the program is now MPA accredited (Master of Public Administration).

The program is used not only by the sport confederations as an opportunity to improve the qualification of their staff, but the studies are now available also for the wide public,” says the coordinator of the study program, Mgr. Ing. Kateřina Kočí, Ph.D. During the last three years, the deputies of sport unions and professional sportsmen graduated in this program. One of them was, for instance, the Olympic basketball player Ilona Burgrová, the athlete Lenka Masná or the six-times Paralympic winner Jiří Ježek and skier Klára Křížová. “The program Sport diplomacy is one of the possibilities, how to increase the Czech representation in the international sport institutions and enforce the influence of the Czech sport worldwide,” added Kateřina Kočí.

MPA Sport diplomacy is a two-semester program of life-long education. Students graduate from 10 subjects. They focus on the sport diplomacy issues, organization and sport financing, law, negotiations and argumentation, communication, public and media relations, management and marketing, the protocol basics, etiquette or the intercultural communication.
