Candidate Overview

Mgr. Tomáš Brandejský

Mgr. Tomáš Brandejský

Doctoral studies, 1st year, Commercial and International Economic Law

I am a 1st year PhD student, I teach law at the Prague University of Economics and Business  and I also work as a lawyer in the Senate of the Czech Republic. Thanks to my hybrid academic position, I perceive the problems of our school from both sides – from the position of a student and from the position of a teacher. I am running for the Academic Senate because I would like students to enjoy coming to school, to enjoy learning, and to prepare them for life and work. I consider education to be one of the most important things ever, and being involved in making a difference for the better makes a lot of sense to me. I have a few ideas on how to improve the teaching and running of our college and I would love the opportunity to put them into action. My background in high politics will certainly come in handy.

Jan Hubáček

Jan Hubáček

Bachelor’s degree, 2nd year, International Business

I decided to apply because the Faculty of International Relations has helped my personal development a lot and I would like to give back.

My main goal is to bring people together across the faculty. I want to create an environment where students feel heard and supported in their activities and ideas. I want to work to improve communication between students and faculty leadership so that together we can bring about positive change and improvement. With your support and trust, I will ensure that our faculty will be an even better place for students to learn, grow, and succeed.

Eduard Jirásko

Eduard Jirásko

Bachelor’s degree, 2nd year, International Business

I try to devote a lot of my free time to AS FIR to repay you for the trust you have placed in me in previous elections. My intentions continue to include promoting even more practice in teaching at FIR. We need to involve all students more in the running of the Faculty and communicate much more about the work of the Senate! I have been involved in a large number of activities throughout my time at FIR. I was involved in the organisation of the Birthday of VSE. I have also been active in the Young Managers Club for a long time. Thanks to all these activities, I already have awareness and experience of advocacy at the faculty and university. Let me seek your support, continue to carry out the tasks in progress and continue to represent you.

Mahammad Kazimov

Mahammad Kazimov

Bachelor’s degree, 1st year, International Diplomatic Studies

As an employee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, currently working as a Diplomacy intern in the Czech Republic, I am excited to announce my candidacy for the Academic Senate of FIR VSE. With my experience in the Department of Communication and previous internships at embassies in Turkey and Kazakstan, I bring a unique perspective to the table. My passion for politics, cooking, and engaging conversations further contribute to my diverse skill set. My primary goals as a senate member would be to prioritize foreign cooperation, ensure effective faculty management, and promote charitable activities. Together, let’s make FMV VŠE a leading institution among faculties.

Jakub Králík

Jakub Králík

Bachelor’s Degree, 1st year, International Business

As an undergraduate student completing my second semester, I am still new to the faculty, but I still believe that I could take on the position of student senator with vigour. Those who know me better would surely confirm that being in the thick of things and looking “under the hood” of issues is close to my heart and describes my everyday life.

As a student senator, I would like to raise awareness of the function and work of the Academic Senate among students. I would seek more opportunities for student involvement directly in the processes at FIR and would like to promote the interests of all students. Each of us should feel confident that our say is important to the faculty and has enough power to influence events.

Klára Landová

Klára Landová

Bachelor’s Degree, 3rd year, International Studies and Diplomacy

Since the beginning of my studies, I have tried to make this school and faculty more than just a place for us students to study our chosen field. This is my second year as an active member of the Young Political Science Club, and this experience has allowed me to meet many other active students and gain valuable skills in leading and organizing club activities. I would like to take advantage of this experience and bring new ideas and initiatives to the Academic Senate.

My main goals include: more student involvement in the events at FIR, supporting clubs and the activities they organize not only within our faculty, and last but not least, advocating for student interests and improving the environment of our faculty where we meet regularly.

Kateřina Linhartová

Kateřina Linhartová

Bachelor’s Degree, 3rd year, International Business

I would never have believed that FIR would become so close to my heart, which is one of the reasons why I decided to run for the Academic Senate, so that I could give something back to it. I will never miss an opportunity at the faculty. From mentoring programmes, to the Erasmus trip to Finland, to being involved in the faculty association SKOK, including its leadership. It is thanks to SKOK that I regularly meet students across years and disciplines, so I think I can understand the needs of students at different stages of their studies. My aim is to be a liaison between students and lecturers, to develop open communication and encourage innovation.

Bc. Yue Ma

Bc. Yue Ma

Master’s Degree, 1st year, International Studies and Diplomacy

I am convinced that I have managed to build a positive relationship with FIR in less than four years of study. I have had the opportunity to gain not only academic experience at Department of International Studies and Diplomacy, but also practical skills in PR, organizing and leadership at Model United Nations Prague. Therefore, my motivation is to help FMV to become a better place ensuring maximum self-development of all students, as it was for me. Consequently, as a senator, I want to pursue FIR´s long-term competitiveness in the international sphere from three aspects: a deepened connection between the Academic Senate and students, continuous innovation in teaching methods and content, greater awareness of student societies and motivation for students to get involved.

Ing. Ondřej Neuschl

Ing. Ondřej Neuschl

Doctoral studies, 1st year, International Studies and Diplomacy

In the course of our work in the AS FIR so far, together with the other student senators, we have addressed many topics that are important to us students: COVID and its impact on students, new technologies such as AI, staffing issues at VSE, and we were one of the first faculty at VSE to support Ukraine. I would very much like to continue this work and represent student interests at FIR in the future. Given the experience I have gained, I would like to help the new senators in advocating and debating the most important issues that students care about. What topics would I like to focus on? Transparent decision-making processes at FIR, timely communication of changes, more collaboration at the student-management level, and the return of Italian as a second language.

Pavla Pohanková

Pavla Pohanková

Bachelor’s Degree, 3rd year, International Studies and Diplomacy

Ever since primary school and especially during secondary school, I have enjoyed being active. Active in bringing generations together and co-creating an environment in which we are all comfortable working together. During my undergraduate studies, I was a member of the European Horizons student union and now I would like to move on. I believe that being a member of the FIR Academic Senate can bring new challenges and opportunities, as well as create an environment at our dear faculty where we can listen to each other, advise each other and realise. I am sure that all it takes is a sincere effort and a desire to not only think positively, but also to act positively. And I am eager to help in making things happen that will put smiles of satisfaction on our faces.

Daniela Ryplová

Daniela Ryplová

Bachelor’s Degree, 3rd year, International Business

Determination. Belonging. Openness. My values, which I would like to promote in AS FIR. In my 3 years of study, thanks to FIR, I have experienced the dark covid times of online learning, friendly conversations in the school corridors and a study stay at MCI Innsbruck.

I want to use the opportunity to serve on the AS FIR to continue the work of the current senators, especially in raising awareness of what is happening on campus among students and creating a safe space for everyone. I believe that the faculty should be a place where the passion for knowledge combines with the desire for innovation, so that students themselves create a world full of new perspectives. My goal is to be a reliable and two-way liaison in this world along the student-leadership route.

Martin Sušienka

Martin Sušienka

Bachelor’s Degree, 3rd year, International Studies and Diplomacy

I have already spent several semesters at FIR and plan to spend a few more here. Therefore, I would like to be actively involved in the administration of the faculty, not only in the events at the faculty. I have been an active member of the JDI for over two years and spent the last semester in France, where my experience also inspired me to put my hand to work.

FIR is undoubtedly constantly developing, and I would like to help it move forward in the right direction. My goal will be to connect people in the faculty, whether through different events or awareness campaigns. I would also like to focus on the activities of the societies and maintaining the high level of academic values that FMV represents today. To this end, I offer my experience in both the academic and professional spheres.

Ing. Patrik Šváb

Ing. Patrik Šváb

Doctoral studies, 2nd year, International Economic Relations

As a PhD student, I see my participation in the Academic Senate of the FIR as an opportunity to promote the interests of students and teachers. Since I am in contact with former and current classmates, students of my seminars, as well as colleagues from the department, I have the opportunity to listen to the opinions of all stakeholders on the direction in which the FIR should develop further. I consider my greatest added value for the faculty to be my efforts to improve the quality of teaching of economic subjects, to expand the work with economic data, and thus to increase the competitiveness of students on the labour market, but also to awaken students’ interest in the academy and science. Based on my one-year study and research experience at the Kiel Institute for the World Economy, I believe that I will be able to pursue these goals better, not only directly in my seminars but also through dialogue with students, colleagues and faculty leadership through the Senate.

Samuel Tingel

Samuel Tingel

Bachelor’s Degree, 3rd year, Tourism

As a student of FIR VŠE, I have a positive attitude towards our alma mater despite its imperfections. The unfortunate formulation of the course on Financial theory, the insufficient time allotment for language courses or the poor preparation for writing bachelor and master theses are a thorn in the side of many of us. With your trust and in collaboration with our new fellow senators, we can correct these minor shortcomings.

It is important to be able to make your voice heard and voice your demands not only during elections but all the time. That’s why I propose creating a system that would allow us students to point out obvious problems and seek solutions simply.

Your support is important to me, and I hope you will give me the opportunity to represent you in the Academic Senate. Thank you.

Bc. Kristián Tomčo

Bc. Kristián Tomčo

Master’s Degree, 1st year, International Business

I’ve always said that you get back what you give. I have tried to follow this in my work so far. I have always approached representing the interests of students and their voices with responsibility, honesty, and a desire to listen to them since I was in high school. I approached my duties in the same way for the next four years as an elected member of local politics in Slovakia. Today, I am prepared to defend with interest the views of each of my classmates in order to put my experience to date to use on the floor of the Academic Senate. FIR is a ground of team players and cooperation, so let us together show that we care and are interested in our faculty. Let’s vote!

Martin Trojan

Martin Trojan

Bachelor’s degree, 2nd year, International Business

I am running for the FIR Academic Senate as I plan to continue to move the faculty forward vigorously through my involvement. I would like to use my previous experience from the Student PR team, of which I have been a member for two years, to conscientiously and fairly advocate for the interests of current and future colleagues. My goals also include: raising student awareness of what is happening in AS FIR, discussing the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and other modern technologies in teaching, and supporting student events and societies. One of the most important tasks of the Senate in the new term will be the election of a new Dean of FIR. This vote will be crucial for the direction of the entire faculty in the years to come, and I believe that through transparency and dialogue, we will be able to elect the best candidate.

Mgr. Pavel Váňa

Mgr. Pavel Váňa

Master’s degree, 2nd year, Business and Law

I am taking up my candidacy for the Senate with the aim of actively contributing to the improvement of study conditions, communication between students and faculty management, and support for student initiatives. I am confident that I can bring positive changes and contribute to a better environment for all students. I am interested in taking an active part in decision-making and solving important issues that concern our faculty. I would like to be involved in discussions and represent the voice of students in formulating faculty policy.

I think it is important to have a senate that is well-informed about the needs of students and can adequately represent them. I hope to contribute my experience and ideas to create a positive environment for all students at FIR VŠE.

Bc. Martin Zíka

Bc. Martin Zíka

Master’s degree, 2nd year, International Business

I see my added value for FIR in my experience in different academic environments and in the business of professional education. The concurrent study of two Master’s programmes and the study abroad experiences in Canada and Italy gives me a certain perspective that I would like to capitalise on to improve our faculty further. Additionally, as a studying dad, I would like to represent other student parents and the special needs student group in general on the FMV AS.

Mgr. Halka Čapková, Ph.D.

Mgr. Halka Čapková, Ph.D.

Department of English

I have been a member of AS FIR since 2011. Since 2018, I have also been a member of the Academic Senate of the Prague University of Economics and Business. Therefore, I can ensure a smooth flow of information between both institutions. As language skills play a key role in the international environment and in the FIR education system, the FIR language departments consider it essential to be represented in the AS FIR. By doing so, they can participate in the management of the faculty and the changes it is going through in today’s dynamic world.

Ing. Pavel Černý, Ph.D.

Ing. Pavel Černý, Ph.D.

Department of Tourism

I am running for the FIR Academic Senate with the well-known motto: “The whole is more than the sum of its parts”. The validity of this motto has been confirmed not only in my work in the academic and business sphere, but also as a player and coach of handball, including the academic selections of the University of Economics. I want to bring to the Senate my experience in the transformation of the Department of Tourism and curriculum innovation, my experience in strategic management consulting for the private and public sector with a focus on investment and non-investment projects, and my experience in the non-profit sector, where I have served as chairman of the Mezilesí MAS for over 8 years. Also openness, inventiveness and team spirit. I make no secret of the fact that the Department of Tourism should strive for a higher level of involvement in faculty bodies. I believe that the prestige and status of the FIR will only increase through mutual communication and cooperation of the entire academic community of the faculty, to which I intend to contribute.

Mgr. Alena Češková

Mgr. Alena Češková

Department of English

I have been working in the Academic Senate of the Faculty of International Relations for a long time, in recent years I have served as the Chairperson. For several years I have also served on the All-School Senate, where I also served on the Chair.

What interests me most about working in the senate is the cooperation with all the departments at the faculty, with the faculty administration and also with the students. I am also very interested in the organizational work in the Academic Senate. The Faculty Academic Senate is a platform where representatives of all faculty departments and students meet and express their views on current and future developments at the Faculty, and all important plans are discussed. I like the access to information, which has always allowed me to adapt my work in the departmental leadership.

Ing. Zbyněk Dubský, Ph.D.

Department of International Studies and Diplomacy

I work in the Department of International Studies and Diplomacy, focusing on international security relations and the separation of powers in the international system, with a specific focus on energy security. These topics are also the dominant focus of my publishing and research activities. I am one of those people who have their lives connected with the Faculty of International Relations, and therefore I have also been a member of the Academic Senate of the FIR for several periods. I know and respect its role as an approving and controlling body and I would like to participate in its activities in the next period with the aim of increasing the prestige of the Faculty.

Department of Romance Languages

As Deputy Head of the Department of Romance Languages and Head of the FR Section, I have been involved in the management of the Department for several years. As a professional language teacher, I enjoy guiding young people, entering into creative interaction with them. I studied and worked in France and Luxembourg for 8 years, I learned to be a manager during my MBA studies (VSE/iaelyon School of Management), I exported Comenius’ pedagogical principles to the Central African Republic with the non-profit Siriri: all this and much more I can capitalize on in my teaching and managerial position in the department. I am running for the AS because I would like to become more involved in the faculty, helping to strengthen the quality and weight of professional language teaching, an important added value of the FIR, and to promote closer links between the language and professional departments.

I realize the importance and relevance of the Academic Senate for the running and future of the Faculty. I see it as an institution that offers new knowledge, space for open discussion and partnership between students, academics and practice.

During my long tenure at the Prague University of Economics and Business, my priority has been to prepare students for the challenges of professional life. As an enthusiastic teacher, I strive to constantly modernize teaching methods and actively involve students. But my interests do not stop at teaching. I am interested in what is happening at FIR and where the faculty is heading. I see my work in the senate, of which I have been a member since 2012, as an opportunity to engage in dialogue with student and academic senators across departments. My goal is to contribute to the creation of optimal conditions for teaching and the consolidation of a fair academic environment.

I actively follow the development of information technology and I am aware of the necessity of appropriate use of these resources in higher education. I am running because I feel myself to be an integral part of the faculty, i.e. I care about the quality of the environment in which I work; at the same time, I see the role of senator as a responsible role of representing the academic staff and their interests. I would like to contribute to the systematic strengthening of the prestige of the Faculty, as well as the quality and competitiveness of its graduates.

My suggestions for FIR that I would initiate:

  • Support home office staff (equipment, heating allowance, electricity),
  • increasing the quality of studies (among others, increasing computer skills),
  • increase the attractiveness of the follow-up Master’s degree,
  • reducing the number of vice-deans of the faculty, optimising the number of non-teaching staff (except for secretaries and study clerks),
  • rationalisation of the concurrence of LMS applications (InSIS, Teams, Moodle) – reduction of duplication and the resulting time and financial costs,
  • improving interpersonal relations, establishing an atmosphere of trust,
  • stopping the destabilization of the work team, reduction of staff departures from the faculty,
decent pay for all faculty staff.

I have been in a close relationship with the Faculty of International Relations and the Prague University of Economics and Business for more than 25 years, both as a student and especially as a lecturer at the Department of International Economic Relations. I have always cared very much about the Faculty and I like it very much. The Academic Senate is an important body that elects the Dean, can influence and control the long-term direction of the Faculty, also comments on current changes and issues, and helps connect the world of academics with the world of students. That is also why I want to re-engage in the work of the FIR Academic Senate and help in its next term.

Currently, I am very interested in the topic of using the possibilities of artificial intelligence in teaching and also how to continue to deal with the texts that students produce as homework.

The Faculty of International Relations is renowned for its emphasis on languages, which is much appreciated and often mentioned by our students. Therefore, as a teacher of language subjects, I would like to contribute to consolidating and improving the status of all languages offered by our Faculty.

Jaroslav Weinfurter, M.A., MSc, Ph.D.

Jaroslav Weinfurter, M.A., MSc, Ph.D.

Department of International Studies and Diplomacy

My candidacy for the Academic Staff Curia of the Academic Senate of the Faculty of International Relations is twofold. The first is my belief in the Senate’s ability to cultivate the necessary dialogue between different groups of the faculty community, thus affirming openness and inclusiveness in decision-making at the faculty level. The second is the Senate’s important role in formulating and implementing the long-term goals of the faculty in educational and research activities.

In both of these respects, the upcoming term of the Senate is quite crucial, and it is up to us to seize the open opportunities to build the prestige of the Faculty as a place for effective learning and a place for cutting-edge research, both university-wide and internationally.
