Team of students from FIR and FBA won the Coca-Cola HBC Management Challenge!
The competition Coca-Cola HBC Management Challenge is designed for students of Czech and Slovakian universities. Its goal is to connect the academic environment with international business. Student teams choose one area in which they work on a real case study. This year, there were 6 management challenges to chose from: HR, finance, marketing, logistics, sales, and CSR.
Team consisting of students from the Faculty of International Business and Faculty of Business Administration Kristián Tomčo, Roman Líška, Imrich Kaplan and Daniel Pastrňák won the whole competition and placed 1st! Congratulations and thank you for the representation of both faculties!

In our case study we were focusing on the area of sales and were working on the selling story for the customer when introducing a new brand called Nemiroff to the Czech market. In this field we have seen the biggest potential to use our current skills and know-how, and, at the same time, we regarded it as an opportunity to come up with new ideas and creativity. The results of the first round let us participate in the finals together with 5 other competitor teams. We have presented our results during the finals that were organized in cooperation with JA Alumni Czech, taking place 23 February 2022. We fought against very good teams throughout the Czech Republic and have seen many new ideas also in other areas than in the one we were covering.

Our winning proposal of selling story consisted of a few key chapters. Sales analysis, sales frequency, marketing plan, product price setting, introduction of the product to customer, etc. These all were areas we needed to face during the competition. In terms of marketing, we were trying to be as creative as possible, on the contrary, when it came to analysis, we were working with various data and statistics to create a real image and potential of the product on the Czech market.

In the first round of the competition, we had a chance to choose the presentation form. We opted for the PowerPoint choice combined with our pre-recorded commentary. It has shown to be a good decision as the jury has appreciated the professionality of our work. They were particularly amazed by our approach towards the whole case study, especially in terms of the data processing and skilfully designed scratches of POP/POS of the in-store campaign.

We would really like to recommend these types of competitions to other students thinking about participating. Sometimes it is not easy to combine all activities, but I can assure you it will bring joy, new friendships, and contacts to you and that it will be the time well-spent. Moreover, we had a chance to successfully defend the golden hattrick for our university, as this was the third time its student team placed 1st. We would also like to thank the company POS Media Czech Republic s. r. o. for the cooperation during the competition: They have offered us help with data processing, gave us information about marketing campaigns and POP/POS materials. Also, as future managers, but also as ordinary people, we know how important is to help the people that can´t live their lives similarly as we can and are fighting with various issues. For this reason, we have decided to donate part of our financial prize to people from Ukraine that run away from the war in their country.
