Teacher of the Year 2023 and top-rated courses and teachers in the winter semester at FIR!
On Tuesday, 5 March 2024, doc. Petr Dvořák, the Rector of the University of Economics and Business, awarded the best teachers. On behalf of FIR, Mgr. Gabriela Štáfová from the Department of English Language was chosen as the best teacher! In addition, the teachers Ing. Tomáš Votava, M.A., Ph.D., and doc. Ing. Martina Jiránková, Ph.D., were also awarded!

Data from the student evaluations (questions designed to assess the quality of the teacher, i.e., qualifications and expertise, preparedness for lectures/exercises, clarity of explanation, ability to explain the material, and interest and ability to answer and solve student questions/problems) were used to evaluate the teacher of the year. Last year we placed more emphasis in the evaluation on evaluations from students of the faculty member’s department. This year, we considered ratings from all students from all faculty.
In the fourth week of the semester, we also learned the results of the FIR students’ evaluations of courses and teachers in terms of quality, professionalism, preparedness, and other criteria.
“We see anonymous student evaluations – whether it is of the teachers or individual courses – as a vital and valuable source of authentic information from the most important group – the students themselves. This allows us to not only make better changes to existing courses and to compare them with others but also to evaluate the quality of individual teachers. Comments and data are continuously analysed every semester by the course guarantors, heads of departments, and the faculty heads,” explains Vice Dean Ondřej Sankot.
