Students from the prestigious Inholland University of Applied Sciences visited VŠE as part of their research project
On Monday, 15 April, a field research project was launched in Prague by students from the prestigious Inholland University of Applied Sciences focused on destination management, branding and communication of tourism destinations in the Czech Republic with a special focus on Prague and Olomouc.
Inholland University of Applied Sciences is an excellent university with branches all over the Netherlands in Amsterdam/Diemen, The Hague, Haarlem and Rotterdam. In the field of tourism, they place a great emphasis on active student involvement in practical life, independence, creative thinking, information analysis, communication and placemaking through the Living Lab. They are also the initiators of a Europe-wide expert group to address the issue of over-tourism in cities and urban agglomerations. Among their professors are globally recognised figures in the field such as Ko Koens and Roos Gerritsma.
On the first day of their trip, the project team consisting of 35 students and 2 professors, Robin Löke and Abdul Kara, chose to visit a selected university institution with a special focus on tourism in addition to visiting Prague. VŠE was chosen as the best in the field. During their visit to the Faculty of International Relations, apart from the presentation of the “Marketing Strategy of the City of Prague” by Tereza Vogeltanzová from Prague City Tourism, the representatives of the university met with Mgr. Miroslav Rončák from the Department of Tourism and Hospitability, who introduced them to the vision of the Faculty of International Relations, the expected graduate profile and the content of studies. The Department of Tourism, under the leadership of Ing. Pavel Černý Ph.D., also focuses closely on the issues of destination management, sustainable tourism and over-tourism through its projects and publications, the possible cooperation and mutual projects, not only on the pedagogical, but also on the student basis, were vividly discussed with the delegation from the Inholland University of Applied Sciences. Given the quality of both higher education institutions, cooperation will certainly be beneficial, which will be reflected not only in the greater involvement of students in practical solutions to destination management and sustainable tourism issues but also in an increase in mutual projects and publications.
