New at VŠE: #innoweek awaits students in the middle of the semester. FIR has prepared over 70 events
The 2022 winter semester has traditionally begun in full-time mode, yet it will introduce some unusual changes to students during its course. One, and perhaps the biggest, is the introduction of Innovation Week, which is set to take place for the first time in the middle of the semester, in week seven.

The new item in the academic year schedule lives up to its name “innovative”, as it will completely depart from the previously established teaching methods used by the Prague University of Economics and Business. From Monday to Friday during the 7th week, teaching will not take place in the usual way according to the times of scheduled events, which students always choose before the start of the semester. This will give each subject the opportunity to use the time options to suit their needs.
“Innovation Week is primarily intended to enrich “normal” teaching with new forms of education. FIR will emphasize in particular the deepening of cooperation with practice in the form of lectures by external experts, excursions, or even competition in solving a case study. We will also offer a variety of workshops focused on the development of various student competencies. Individual consultations on team projects and special courses on the application of research methods for qualification papers etc. will also be important. Innovation Week should be seen as an opportunity, not an obligation. It is an innovative opportunity for everyone to try something out and move forward in their personal development.” “Why did VŠE join #innoweek? First of all, due to the rigid form of teaching 13 weeks in a row always on a regular day and time does not sufficiently encourage (or completely prevent) new possibilities of learning and interaction. While #innoweek will still remain fully integrated into the teaching part of the semester (it will always take place in the 7th week of teaching), the teaching will take a different form and will allow students and teachers to break free from the captivity of the “rigid” schedule and experience teaching differently, at least for a while. This move also goes hand in hand with blended learning – to teach less (meaning in the traditional way), but to teach more (through different teaching methods and modernization).”

Students will be able to attend events and lectures at pre-announced times on a variety of topics related to the course, or complete assignments given by a specific instructor, usually at times other than the usual time of the original lectures and exercises.
