FIR was a partner of the conference “Wooden structures” (not only) about sustainability and public sector financing
How to build innovatively, economically, sustainably, and what financial sources to use when building wooden structures in the cities? These questions were answered by professionals in the field to mayors of the South Bohemian Region during the pilot conference called “Wooden structures in the public and commercial sector” organized by the alliance Šance pro budovy a ADMD.
The speaker of the event was Ing. Pavel Černý, Ph.D., the new director of the Department of Tourism in the Faculty of International Relations of Prague University of Economics and Business. In the name of FIR, Ing. Mgr. Petr Štěpánek, Ph.D., the Vice-Dean for Finance and Development, also visited the conference.
“It was an honour for me to witness the start of interconnection of top-class professionals from various bacgrounds and deputies of municipalities who perceive important the usage of wooden buildings in the public sector. From the economist point of view, I feel there is a wide social economic context in this field. The sustainability is based on hard data here. Terms like the local self-sufficiency in various forms, lowering of environmental load in the cities, digitalization of construction industry are becoming concrete and tangible. It is very innovative field of the economy and in the context of the regional development I am delighted that the incentives of all innovations are made by companies and rural Bohemian cities,” states Pavel Černý.

The programme of the conference was focused not only on the sustainability in the constructing industry and energetically effective buildings, but also the financial support of buildings in the public sector or the future of the Czech forestry. The sustainability is one of the main spheres the FIR supports on the long-term basis.
The goal of the conference was to introduce new trends and spread the awareness about means and constructing possibilities of wooden sculptures that could, in the name of sustainability, be built or reconstructed in the cities. For instance: kindergartens or schools, sport halls, houses for seniors, apartments and other public buildings made from wood.
