FIR Annual Conference 2024: 20 Years of the Czech Republic in the European Union: Reflections and Perspectives

About the Conference

Date: 7 October 2024
Venue: Academic Club, Prague University of Economics and Business
Time: 14:00–19:45

The conference is organised in cooperation with the Institute for European Policy EUROPEUM.

In 2024, the Czech Republic marks the 20th anniversary of its accession to the European Union. EU membership has brought significant economic and political changes to the country, while also opening new questions about the future of both the Union and Czech society.

The conference will focus on whether the expectations linked to EU accession have been fulfilled, how the Czech economy has managed the process of convergence, and what challenges future enlargements may bring. Discussions will feature leading experts from academia, politics, and practice, as well as the perspective of the young generation.

The main conference language is Czech; only the first panel will be held in English.
