Assoc. prof. Pavel Hnát moderated the Business panel of ALTER ECOnomic Forum “Cold (Economic) War: Risks of new (ab)normal for businesses and investors”

The world is (re)changing. As a result of the ongoing power rebalance, the rules governing the global economy and politics are being rewritten. The resulting uncertainty is contributing to a redefinition of security risks as more and more state and non-state actors exploit cross-border linkages, such as the supply of key components and resources, to achieve their objectives. How should states, companies, and investors prepare for something like this? This was discussed by guests at the second ALTER ECOnomics Forum (22 November 2022), of which FIR was again a partner.

The afternoon panel on the topic of Business (3:01:33 – 3:50:39) was moderated by the Vice-Rector of the Higher School of Economics and a member of the Department of International Economic Relations of the FIR, assoc. prof. Pavel Hnát. The guests of this panel were Jiří Plecitý, Global Key Account Manager, Linet, and Mikuláš Pýcha, Director of Strategic Management, EGAP.

What is the concept of strategic independence? Is Europe ready for it? What is the right level of protectionism for Europe? How to plan in times of uncertainty? And how hard is it to protect intellectual property in global markets?
