Top business and public sector leaders: a look back at the second Innovation Week at FIR

In the last week of March, the Prague University of Economics and Business hosted the so-called Innovation Week, or Innoweek. During one week, there were no traditional classes, but students met with guests from the world of business and government in seminars, workshops and excursions.

Already the second year of Innoweek offered countless interesting opportunities for students from all over the University of Economics to get involved. We would like to take a look back at the past week through this article. We bring you the highlights from some of the events in English that different departments of the FIR kindly organized:

George, Brand and Sustainability: the Česká spořitelna workshop in English

Students had the opportunity to literally “touch” innovations at an interactive workshop of Česká spořitelna. The practical workshop focused on innovations in George (mobile banking app), ESG, sustainability, and brand strategy. In the first part of the workshop, Česká spořtielna experts presented how Česká spořtitelna approaches these topics. In the second part, students worked on a case study in small groups.

Lecture CZECH REPUBLIC AT EXPO 2025

On Tuesday, 28 March 2023, a lecture on “Czech Republic at EXPO 2025: Talent and Creativity for Life” occurred. The student association Junior Diplomat Initiative organised the event in cooperation with the Department of International Studies and Diplomacy at FIR. The first presentation was made by the Japanese Ambassador to the Czech Republic, Suzuki Hideo, who introduced the city of Osaka as the venue for the exhibition and also focused on developing Czech-Japanese relations. In the next part, Ondřej Soška, Commissioner General for Czech participation in EXPO 2025, introduced the students to the preparations of the Czech pavilion and emphasized the importance of this international exhibition in the context of public and economic diplomacy of the Czech Republic.

Speak Czech or die!

Prague is not just Charles Bridge and the city centre! The event aimed at international students encouraged participants to practice their knowledge of the Czech language, commute around the city, read maps, and search for places and objects connected to Czech culture (especially with a world-famous Czech writer). Students had the opportunity to visit places they would not normally visit.
