Support for Excellence in Doctoral Study Programmes at the Faculty of International Relations of the Prague University of Economics and Business for the academic year 2024/25

The objective of Support:

  • To provide assistance to talented full-time PhD students demonstrating potential for outstanding scientific contributions.
  • To enhance their publication performance with a focus on quality.
  • To actively engage them in the research activities of the Faculty of International Relations.

Support Organization:

  1. The support initiative is coordinated by Associate Professor Radka Druláková, Vice-Dean for Science and Doctoral Studies, and is managed at the faculty administrative level.
  2. The selection process for current full-time PhD students will be announced on 25 September 2024 on the faculty website under the Science and Research section:
    • Candidates must submit an application form, not exceeding two pages, by 14 October 2024 to Study Officer Ing. Martina Machová, both in paper and electronic formats.
    • The application must include:
      • A structured curriculum vitae (CV).
      • A detailed plan of scientific research and publication activities for the academic year 2024-25, outlining specific commitments that contribute to the advancement of the department’s or faculty’s scientific endeavours.
      • A list of previous publications and research activities, including involvement in research projects.
      • Recommendations from the supervisor and the guarantor of the relevant study program.
    • The faculty management will select two PhD students from the applicants by 18 October 2024.
  1. The support for PhD students amounts to 15,000 CZK, disbursed as a monthly stipend from November 2024 to June 2025.

Obligations of Supported PhD Students:

  • Maintain full-time study status throughout the support period.
  • Prepare biannual activity reports (interim report by 28 February 2025 and final report by 30 June 2025), confirmed by the supervisor, detailing specific scientific achievements and outlining progress for the subsequent period. Any deviations from the original Research Activity Plan must be explained.
  • Actively participate in faculty´s research centres (International Research Centre and Jan Masaryk Centre for International Studies), including presenting results at their workshops twice a year.
  • Reports will be evaluated by the Vice Dean for Science and Doctoral Studies and approved by the faculty management.
  • If the results do not align with the submitted Research Plan or significant deviations are not satisfactorily justified, the support amount may be reduced or, in cases of serious deficiencies, the scholarship may be withdrawn entirely.
