About
The Jan Masaryk Centre for International Studies is a research centre within the Faculty of International Relations. Founded in 2021, it is connected to the Department of International and Diplomatic Studies. The director of the Centre is Associate Professor Jeremy Garlick, Ph.D., who specialises in China’s international relations. In 2024, after gaining the first Horizon Europe grant obtained by Prague University of Economics and Business, the Centre was designated a Centre of Excellence by the university’s rectorate. The aim of the Centre is to promote high-level collaborative research in international affairs among the members of the faculty across fields and disciplines, including also cooperation with scholars from other domestic and foreign institutions. The Centre’s mission is to encourage team members and colleagues to combine their interests and expertise to produce high-quality research projects and outputs, including impact articles and monographs published by leading international publishers. Members of the Centre have previously obtained numerous research grants from the Czech Science Foundation (GAČR). Dr Garlick successfully completed two standard GAČR projects on China’s international relations from 2019-2021 and 2022-2024. Dr Zbyněk Dubský has also worked on two GAČR research projects in the field of energy, as well as several internal grant projects (IGA).
