What will be the FIR priorities for upcoming 5 years? The new FIR strategy revealed!

On the 3rd June 2021, the academic senate approved the new Education and creative activities strategic plan for years 2021 – 2025, which was handed in by the dean of faculty, doc. Josef Taušer, together with his vice-deans.

The strategy is based on the already approved Strategic plan of the Prague University of Economics and Business and on the factors, which will, during the next 5 years, bring the fundamental qualitative changes of university education, influenced mainly by the change on the labour market and the global environment, demographic changes, progressive development of distance and flexible educative forms, implementation of administration rules and the quality increase, changes in the funding system for the educational and research activities and the growing competition in the field of university education. During the Strategy making, the FIR board cooperated also with the Council of strategic administration and used widely the practical knowledge of FIR graduates or student feedbacks.

The strategy of wide internationalization

The key competitive advantage, distinctive element and a tool to reach the set priorities of further FIR development is the strategy of wide internationalization. “The strategy opens the faculty to the modern foreign trends and innovations in teaching, it brings new findings and significantly strengthens capacities in the sense of scientific research methods,” states the upcoming faculty development the dean of faculty, doc. Josef Taušer.

Not only at the Prague University of Economics and Business, but also throughout the whole Czech educational system, the FIR leads in terms of the internationalization, mainly thanks to the high ratio of student exchanges and foreign internships, international host lecturers, the increasing number of staff from all over the world and the number of international students studying at the university.

The FIR orients itself to the economic disciplines, which are international in its base. “The content definition is not enough, though. It is needed to project internationalization and openness to innovationive ways of management (which have been proved in abroad) as a fundamental requirement also in a way of implementation of all key faculty activites and their outputs. It is essential to complement the authority connected to the flexibility and quick learning with the social and intercultural communication abilities,” adds the dean of FIR.

The wide internationalization of academic activities is the basic value and, at the same time, the main criteria during the faculty priorities setup. It reflects into all connected areas, in which it plays the role of a basic tool for fulfilling the partial goals.
