Delegation from Chinese Academy of Social Sciences on FIR

On the 30th August 2017 the Faculty of international relations of University of Economics Prague has been visited by the delegation from Beijing Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), that belongs to the most important research institutions and think-tanks in China.

CASS has been found in 1977, when replaced existing Department of Philosophy and Social Sciences within Chinese Academy of Sciences. Today is CASS above 31 research institutions and 45 research centers, that are specialized for many social sciences. There are employed over 3 000 professional scientists.

To FIR has arrived the delegation from the Institute of World Economics and Politics (IWEP), under the leading of Mr. Zhang, that leads the department of international investments on IWEP. There was discussion about the possibilities of the cooperation between FIR and that Institute, mainly about the topic of export Chinese investments do middle and west Europe, with an accent to the Czech Republic. The meeting has been visited by the representatives of the Centre of Asian studies, also the Vice-Dean of science and research, Mrs. doc. Ing. Mgr. Radka Druláková, Ph.D.

China isn’t only the greatest recipient of foreign investments, but also belongs to their exporters. Even they export more direct investments, that they import. There are also changes of investment flow, their structure and the focus. In the Czech Republic is these days the volume of accepted Chinese investments very low, despite that the economic cooperation is growing and getiing more intensive in last years, for example within the initiative New Silk Road (or also One Belt, One Road).
