Certificate in Business Italian – an innovation at the University of Economics, Prague and the Czech Republic

FINALMENTE UNA BUONA NOTIZIA! After a few years of preparations, the long-awaited project of the Department of Romance Languages has been finalised! The Dean of the Faculty of International Relations doc. Josef Taušer, Ph.D., the chairwoman of Società Dante Alighieri in Prague Dott.ssa Monia Camuglia Ribarov, and the director of the Italian-Czech Chamber of Commerce, Mr Matteo Mariani, signed a tripartite agreement of cooperation in Business Italian certification.

Italian classes have a long tradition at VŠE, every semester almost 140 students study this beautiful Romance language. The Faculty of International Relations is the only Czech faculty of economics which offers Italian as a possible compulsory language of bachelor’s degree programmes, and so offers six semesters of specialised courses of Business Italian and Italian for economists.

Given the fact that no Business Italian certificate exists, the Department of Romance Languages initiated a discussion about its creation. From 2018, examination dates will be announced at regular one-year intervals and will be open to FIR students as well the general public. Currently, a concept of the certificate in B2 Business Italian is prepared, but a C1 certificate will extend the portfolio in the following years. Information will be updated on the Department’s website (kroj.vse.cz) and its Facebook page.

Students with a high degree of Italian proficiency can take advantage of numerous internship offers by the Faculty and gain experience in more than four hundred Italian companies operating on the Czech market.

If your knowledge does not meet the required level yet, or if you want to start off with Italian, sign up for the Department’s language courses, we look forward to teaching you! Further information can be provided by the guarantor of the Department’s Italian section, PhDr. Miroslava Ferrarová (miroslava.ferrarova@vse.cz), or the head of the Department, PhDr. Dominika Kovářová, Ph.D., MBA (dominika.kovarova@vse.cz).
