XII. international student conference „América Latina Hoy“ took place at FIR

The Department of Romance Languages FIR VŠE in cooperation with Philosophy Faculty of Masaryk University in Brno and Economic University in Bratislava organized the XII. international student conference „América Latina Hoy“. Students from Cyril and Methodius University in Trnava and interns from Spain participated in the conference as well.

On Friday April 5, the participants presented 11 thematical papers of high quality. Presentations were followed by debates. The agenda embraced political topics like Venezuelan crisis and its impacts on the media, Hugo Chavez’s political path, and situation with Iberoamerican immigrants in Bratislava; also cultural and social topics like the 500th anniversary of Havana, St. Jan’s celebrations and many more. An informal meeting took place in the evening and on Saturday morning, April 5, all the participants of the conference had a chance to attend a tango lesson in the framework of mini-course at Prague Vinohrady.

The conference agenda is traditionally prepared by VŠE students. In April 2019 there were Zuzka Vrbková, Linda Slováková a David Němeček.

We look forward to the next edition of November 2019 that will take place at University of Economics in Bratislava and cordially invite all the interested students!

The both conferences in 2019 are designated for VŠE students in the Framework of IGA project. Outcomes of the conferences in a form of articles will be published in Spanish in a compilation that will be published in the autumn 2019.
