Fifth Economic Forum in Kostelec nad Orlicí focused on the energy sector

The Faculty of International Relations of Prague University of Economics and Business was once again a partner of the Economic Forum, which is traditionally held at the New Castle of the Kinský family in Kostelec na Orlicí. This year’s edition, which took place from 19 to 21 May 2023, was entitled Energy or die: The Great Audit of (not only) European Energy and its main star was one of the most influential Czech natives, Prof. Václav Smil, who works at the University of Manitoba in Canada.

The Economic Forum was also attended this year by the Rector of the University of Economics in Prague, doc. Petr Dvořák. FIR was traditionally represented by doc. Pavel Hnát, who moderated the Friday panel on the geopolitical context of the current energy situation, and Assoc. Martina Jiránková, prof. Stanislav Šaroch and Dr. Jarolím Antal from the Department of International Economic Relations.

Other speakers at this year’s forum included Martin Jahn, member of the Board of Directors of ŠKODA AUTO, David Havlicek, Chairman of the Board of EGAP and coordinator of NERV, Pavel Tykač, owner of Sev.en Group, and Eva Zamrazilová, Deputy Governor of the Czech National Bank, and Magdalena Souček, former Managing Partner of EY.
