The Center for European Studies participated in the preparation of the Roundtable of the National Convention on the EU about the Future of the Eurozone and the Czech Republic

On Friday 10th November 2017 took place another Roundtable of the National Convention about the European Union entitled The Future of the Eurozone and the Czech Republic in the Liechtenstein Palace.

The expert of this round table is the Center for European Studies, working under the Faculty of International Relations of the University of Economics in Prague (VŠE) in cooperation with the Department of Economics and Law of Škoda Auto University. At the beginning of the discussion, Mr. Stanislav Šaroch presented the underlying document to the round table. The whole event was moderated by Jarolím Antal, Director of the Center for European Studies at the University of Economics.

Opinions on the topic of the National Convention and the individual issues were presented by representatives of the Ministry of Finance, the Bank Board of the Czech National Bank. Then there was presented an analysis of the government office called Czech Republic and the Eurozone and the Slovak experience of economic convergence and adoption of the euro was commented by Elena Kohútiková, former deputy governor of the National Bank of Slovak.

The discussion touched the themes of the Eurozone's development in the post-crisis period, its institutional shortcomings and their possible solutions. In addition, the presentation was focused on the discussion of how the broadly shared position of the Czech Republic and the related domestic policies supporting the convergence of the economic level and the Czech position on the proposed changes in the Eurozone should look like.

The outcome of the Roundtable discussions will be a summary, that contains recommendations for the Czech government and other state administration bodies.
