Department of Romance Languages

The department’s research has long been engaged in the study of economic terminology, economic-specific style and modern didactic methods (including e-learning). The department’s publishing activities concentrate mainly on the problems of applied linguistics, lexicology and lingual-didactics. The department has a number of foreign assistant lecturers. The department acts as an authorised examining centre for international examinations in commercial Spanish and French in the Czech Republic, having been entrusted with this task by the Madrid and Paris Chambers of Commerce. The department hosts international conferences and seminars on the language of economics. Through its association with the Socrates and Erasmus projects, the department cooperates with Slovak, Spanish and Austrian universities. As a member of CEMS (the Community of European Management Schools) the department participates in language examinations and the examiner exchange.
