Erasmus+ Strategic partnership project “Online Study Platform on Mediation” on University of Economics, Prague
University of Economics, Prague, with 5 other European universities, University of Genova (Italy), Mykolas Romeris University (Lithuania), University of National and World Economy (Bulgaria), University of Graz (Austria) and Turiba University (Latvia), started in September 2016 a three-year project „Online Study Platform on Mediation“, which is financed by the European Union as an Erasmus+ Strategic partnership project.
Mediation is a dispute resolution with a long-lasting positive effect on participating parties. The European Union prefers an alternative dispute resolution in a long period not only in its legislative acts. The problem is that in many member states, the alternative dispute resolution is not developed enough. The aim of this project is thus to improve knowledge of mediation by creating and operating an online education platform. Digitalization of teaching process (providing a database and learning materials online) enables a distant studying. As a part of the project, mock-mediation sessions and mediation tournaments among teams of students will be held. An interactive form of learning will be supported by some videos too.
However, the project will focus also on theoretical outputs, whose part will be a teaching material oriented on methodology. The goal of such manual is to help academics improve their organisational and methodological skills which are necessary for preparing mock-mediation sessions and tournaments.
Participants of this project come not only from academic circles, which are represented by 6 partner universities, but also from associated mediation experts with practical experience. University of Economics, Prague, is represented by doc. JUDr. Jiřina Hásova, Ph.D. and JUDr. Nicole Grmelová, Ph.D. from Department of Business and European Law and by Mgr. Jan Štandera, a solicitor and registered mediator.
