The department specializes in problems of international economic relations on both macro- and microeconomic levels.

Research activities concentrate in particular into following areas:

  • International finance
  • International marketing
  • International trade (institutional level)
  • International commerce.

Teaching activities: The department offers a variety of compulsory and optional courses for bachelor, master and doctoral level which cover all four above mentioned areas with. The department tutors the bachelor and master programs International Trade. Besides those programs the department offers compulsory and optional courses for master programs International Business and CEMS MIM, the bachelor program IBB and many courses for mixed groups of Czech and incoming exchange students. The majority of optional courses is offered in foreign languages (mainly in English).

International cooperation: Members of the department are active in the CEMS community (Strategic Board, Research and Doctoral Education Committee, Faculty Group- Marketing). Most of our teachers teach courses in English for exchange students at the VSE. The members of the department also regularly teach as visiting professors at partner universities across whole Europe but also overseas (China, USA). On the other hand, every semester app. 10 visiting professors come to teach optional courses offered by the department. Also research activities are conducted in cooperation with international partners (e.g. international research grants, participation at conferences abroad and joint international research conference jointly organized with University of Economics in Bratislava every year since 2000).

Corporate relations: Lectures provided by business practitioners are integral part of most of compulsory courses offered by the department. In several courses the cooperation with companies is even stronger and students work on team projects organized in cooperation with corporate partners. In the last years the members of the department conducted several research studies ordered by corporate partners and our teachers also provide consulting for businesses in their specific areas of research.
