MIB EPAS Consortium Meeting in Sheffield

Conference Czech Republic’s Strategy for Competitiveness 2017: Digital society
On Thursday, September 29, 2016, an international scientific conference titled Czech Republic’s Strategy for Competitiveness 2017: Digital society will be held in Rajská building at the University of Economics in Prague. It is organized by the CMC Graduate School of Business, Faculty of International Relations and the Czech management Association as it is based on a memorandum of mutual cooperation on the collection, analysis and presentation of results of the Executive Opinion Survey - Global Competitiveness Report of the World Economic Forum. The conference takes place under the patronage of Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka.

Successful international conferences at FIR
Two international conferences were held last week at the Faculty of International Relations. They have a long tradition and therefore belong to highly regarded events at the faculty. They were organized by the Department of World Economy and Jan Masaryk Centre for International Studies.
Conference ‟Recent trends of economic diplomacy in selected countries of EU”
The Faculty of International Relations VSE in Prague invites academic employees, students and professional public to a conference called ‟Recent trends of economic diplomacy in selected countries of EU”. The conference will take place on Thursday, 16 June 2016 and will be held under the patronage of prof. Ing. Hana Machková, CSc., rector of the University of Economics in Prague. Minister of foreign affairs of the Czech Republic, Lubomír Zaorálek will participate in the opening as well.
Lecture by CEO of Czech Export Bank as part of Alumni Wednesdays at FIR
Management of the Faculty of International Relations invites all students, academic employees and alumni as well to a lecture by Ing. Karel Bureš, Chairman of the Board of Directors and Chief Executive Officer of Czech Export Bank. The topic is „The role of state support of export in the period of economic growth and a specific mission of Czech Export Bank“. The lecture will take place on 25 May 2016 at 6 p. m. in the room RB 211, which means the Rajská building of VSE.
Students and teachers joined their forces at the first FIR Quiz
What is the capital of Suriname? How many kilometres does the Great Wall of China have? Not only to these questions tried to find the answers the students and teachers of the Faculty of international relations on 27 April. There were nine teams competing for the win in the first FIR Quiz which was inspired by a popular game called Pub Quiz.
Professor Hana Machková to receive The Order of the Legion d’Honneur
His Excellency, M. Jean-Pierre Asvazadourian, the Ambassador of the French Republic to the Czech Republic, will confer the Order of the Legion d’Honneur upon the Rector of the VSE, Professor Hana Machková, on 7th April, 2016. The conferral ceremony will take place at the Embassy of the French Republic in Prague, in Buquoy Palace which houses the embassy.

Mentoring programme at FIR – be part of it too!
The Mentoring programme has worked at FIR since the winter semester 2015/2016. Its purpose is to connect the younger students with the older and more experienced ones, who can provide them valuable advice on their studies at the Faculty of International Relations so that they can get out of it the most. The registration for the programme has just opened.
Photography exhibition: China Un/known
In the days from 22 February to 4 March, there was a photography exhibition called „China Un/known“ in the atrium of Rajská Building. The first edition of this event, mainly arranged by the minor in Chinese Studies and held under the patronage of the Faculty of International Relations, was aimed on the beautiful diversity of China. The main intention was to support this way the interest of students and public in Chinese culture and China in general.

New dean of the Faculty of International Relations
On Monday, February 1, 2016, the new dean of the Faculty of International Relations doc. Ing. Josef Taušer, Ph.D. will start to execute his function. He was elected dean by the Academic Senate on 12 November 2015 and he will remain in this role until 31 January 2020.
A wide range of courses taught by visiting professors in the summer semester 2015/2016
For the summer semester 2015/2016, the Faculty of International Relations offers a wide range of bachelor´s as well as master´s courses taught by visiting professors.
The courses can be registered within the regular registrations from 4 January to 26 January 2016. Regarding the exact time and room, please always refer to the note in syllabi of relevant courses.
European Commission Vice President for Budget and Human Resources at VŠE
On 11th of December 2015 European Commission Vice-President of the budget and human resources Kristalina Georgieva will perform at the University of Economics, Prague. Her lecture on the topic Current Challenges for the budget of the European Union is organized by Delegation of the European Commission in collaboration with the University’s Centre for European Studies.

13. 10. 2015 - The University of Economics, Prague (VŠE) took the first place in the Eastern Europe in the annual international ranking of Eduniversal. VŠE has been ranked among the 27 world’s best business schools (top 3 excellent Business Schools in 9 geographical zone). The excellent result again confirms the high level of the University of Economics, Prague. VŠE has regularly ranked among the three best schools in the region since 2009. For VŠE the first place represents a great appreciation of the quality work of academics and students at the University of Economics, Prague.
Rector of the VŠE Elected to the Board of Management of EIASM

- On 1st October, 2015, the Rector of the University of Economics, Prague (VŠE), Professor Hana Machková, was unanimously elected to the Board of Management of EIASM
- the European Institute for Advanced Studies in Management
. Professor Machková was elected to a three year term of office. The VŠE is the only university from the CEE region with a representative amongst the top management of this prestigious association.
The Czech Republic’s Strategy for Competitiveness 2016: Industry for the 21st century
This year's conference on competitiveness, The Czech Republic’s Strategy for Competitiveness 2016: Industry for the 21st Century, will take place on September 30th, at the University of Economics, Prague (VŠE) in the auditorium RB 101. The conference is dedicated to a discussion on competitiveness of the Czech Republic in global comparison and the context of the annual Global Competitiveness Report conducted by the World Economic Forum. This years´ Global Competitiveness Report 2015-2016 will be officially released on the same day.
